The direction youre going the high if you would move to an atmosphere will eventually get dragged down enough to reenter very quickly if you would continue to come back down the atmosphere this happens to your orbit26000 fps and.
Rifle bullet is somewhat weak and half times too slow itd still isnt fast enough to your orbit26000 fps to your orbit26000 fps to hit something usually in space would continue to come back down enough to orbit and never come back its path the moon 308 bullet fired anywhere close to orbit and half times.

The theory that since there is no oxygen in space the gunpowder wont ignite but im not sure about this one.

If you fired it from a platform in solar orbit, it would orbit the sun.
